Advance Preparation
  1. Before going for an interview, find out as much information about the company / organization as possible from various sources like, annual reports and the company's  website.
  2. Divide your life into segments covering your qualifications and job experiences.
  3. For each stage , jot down reasons for joining a course, job responsibilities in current / previous jobs and reason for leaving your earlier / current job.
  4. The reason how this job will serve your long term goals.
  5. Know your strengths - technical as well as non - technical and this you should be able to demonstrate.
  6. Put across weaknesses in such a way that there appears as a positive virtue to the  interviewer.
  7. Be ready with the following questions.
    What do you know about our company ?
    Why do you want to join our company ?
    Where do you see yourself in the next five years ?
    Why are you looking for a change ?
Etiquette
  1. Present yourself as a competent professional for the job.
  2. You should be decently dressed - long sleeved shirts, formal trousers and tie for junior / middle level positions. For senior positions a suit will be preferable.
  3. Mind the accessories like ties , belts and shoes. Badly matched accessories can have  a jarring effect on the interviewer. Avoid heavy jewellery or personal accessories.
  4. Best way to enter an interview is to knock and ask for permission.
  5. Take a cue from tonal variations, facial expression and thrust of questions from the  interview panel and respond appropriately.
  6. Basic etiquettes , attitude and body language make a big difference.
Career Goals
  1. Explain your career progression in a logical manner.
  2. Explain how you expect to grow with time frames.
  3. Talk about how the job will help you add value to your experience.
Reason for job change
  1. Do not criticize the organization you worked with previously.
  2. Fresh and bigger challenges with growth prospects should be the reason for the change.
Salary Expectations

Spell out how much you should be paid, given the market value of the job and your skills. Do let the interviewer know what are you getting right now.

Questions you should ask
  1. Long term vision of the company.
  2. What kind of opportunities I can expect to further my career goals.
Negotiating your salary
  1. If there are to be two or three round of interviews, then don't commit the blunder of negotiating for your salary in the first round.
  2. You need to have information about your prospective employer and your own market value for right negotiation.
  3. Remember negotiation is a two way process and this is a starting point for your career  in the company which sets the tone for employment relationships.
  4. You should know your priorities. This will help you accept or reject an offer.
